The
school bus ended up in a shark’s stomach, and, to get out, the class
had to drive the school bus out through the shark’s mouth. While
inside, they looked around the shark’s stomach, where they saw many
bones and other things.
"Flashlight fish in here,” Mr. Hill said, “and many
glowing microscopic bacteria. “Some fish are bioluminescent
because they use it as a device for mating."
Tim called out that there was an overcoat in the stomach. "What's that
doing there?" asked Phoebe.
"I'm not surprised,” said D.A.,
“this tiger shark is one big garbage disposal.”
One student stated that goblin sharks’ teeth are really long and
pointy.
"Yes, and the great white shark has
teeth shaped like triangles,” said Phoebe.
"Phoebe," said Tim,” why do you
think different sharks have such different teeth?"
"Hmm, maybe it's because they all
eat different foods. I thought Ms.Frizzle would unshrink the sub and
us.”
“What’s that, Keesha? Oh, dear it
looks flat and has a long skinny tail. Mr. Hill said it was a stingray
because it had spikes on its tail and one poisonous stinger.”
“It’s going to get us,” Wanda said,”
Mr. Hill said we better move away.”
“Full speed ahead, Liz,” Ms.
Frizzle said. “Hang on class!”
Liz pulled a lever on the
instrument panel. The tiny sub zoomed forward.
Bad move! The sudden noise and
movement upset the stingray. It came after us at lightning speed. The
sub moved fast but the ray was faster.
“I just knew we were going to get
stung by that tail.”
Then Ralphie yelled, “Ms. Frizzle,
help! Look at that!”
“It’s a shark, Ms. Frizzle! It’s
coming right at us!” Keesha added. I looked out the window; a
blue-gray shark was swimming toward us!
