“The True
Confessions of Charlotte Doyle” by Avi is a great book for young adults.
In this book
Charlotte
is a 13-year-old girl who departs on a ship from Liverpool, England to
go live with her family in Rhode Island. She boards a ship called the
Seahawk, and soon finds out that she is the only female aboard the
ship. |
|
When she first boards the ship she meets two men, Zachariah and
Captain Jaggery. Charlotte soon finds out that first impressions are
not always accurate. She turns to the crew for friendship after
the Captain reveals his true character. The crew sets a nearly
impossible test for her, and, amazingly, she passes it. |
