Murder on the High Seas

When a hurricane struck somewhere in the Mid-Atlantic, the crew of the Seahawk, under Captain A. Jaggery went to work in the sails.  Upon reaching the eye of the storm, the crew came upon the body of the first mate, Samuel Hollybrass.  Stuck in his back was a dirk.  Stuck in his back was a dirk.  This dirk belonged to a member of the crew, Mister Doyle.  Clutched in the victim’s hand was Mister Doyle’s handkerchief.  According to Mr. Doyle he was in the sails the entire time.

Exhibit A

There is suspicion that the captain murdered the first mate.  This was hypothesized when investigators discovered that the only two people on deck at the time of the murder were Captain Jaggery and Mr. Hollybrass.  After the investigation was over Mr. Hollybrass was committed to the sea.
